Drilling and Well Servicing Equipment
After publication of API 7K Sixth Edition on December 2015 and the following Errata 1 and Errata 2, becomes effective December 30, 2016.
Modifications to the scope of API Spec 7K, 6th Edition require that the following changes be made to the scope of those products eligible for licensing under the API Monogram Program:
1. Power Tongs, including Spinning Wrenches have been REMOVED; and 2. Slip Bowls have been ADDED.
Current API Spec 7K Monogram Licensees or applicants with Power Tongs, including Spinning Wrenches as the ONLY product under the scope of their API Monogram License or application have the following options: - Add products to the scope of API 7K Monogram License or application. The deadline for providing the updated licensing information form to API is January 15, 2017. API will review the new product information to determine if an audit is required to process the Licensing scope change(s). - Organizations that ONLY manufacture Power Tongs, including Spinning Wrenches based on customer or other industry requirements can transition to a registration under API Spec Q1 and/or ISO 9001. The Organization may apply for a QMS registration that includes design and manufacture of the products that have been withdrawn from the scope of the API Spec 7K Monogram License. - Take no further action, resulting in withdrawal of organization’s API Spec 7K Monogram License on January 16, 2017.
Up to December 30, 2016, Power Tongs, including Spinning Wrenches are no longer part of the scope of API Spec 7K, 6th Edition. As of December 30, 2016, manufacturers of Power Tongs CAN'T LONGER APPLY the API Monogram to those products.
